India’s Mohun Bagan Super Giants has decided to not travel to Iran to play Tractor SC in the Asian Champions League Two match due to security concerns. The match was scheduled for Wednesday in the city of Tabriz. The AFC has been asked to reschedule the game, with further updates expected.
In the top-tier Asian Champions League Elite, Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia secured a 5-0 victory over Al-Shorta of Iraq, making it two wins out of two for the four-time champions. Marcos Leonardo, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Salem Al-Dawsari, Nasser Al-Dawsari, and Mohamed Kanno were the goal scorers.
In another match, Al-Gharafa of Qatar defeated Al-Ain of the UAE 4-2. The revamped tournament consists of 24 teams divided into two groups, with the top eight from each group advancing to the round of 16.
In the eastern zone, Gwangju FC of South Korea won their second game with a 1-0 victory over Kawasaki Frontale of Japan, thanks to Jasir Asani’s penalty. Pohang Steelers from South Korea, Johor of Malaysia, and Buriram United of Thailand also secured wins in their respective matches.
The AFC will communicate further updates regarding the rescheduling of the Mohun Bagan Super Giants’ match against Tractor SC.
