Former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Eddie Lacy was arrested on suspicion of “extreme DUI” in Scottsdale, Arizona. Lacy was pulled over late Monday night after committing multiple traffic violations. He was charged with four counts of DUI, with varying blood alcohol content levels, as well as possession of an open liquor container. Lacy spent the night in jail and was released the following morning.
Lacy rose to fame playing at Alabama, where he won three national championships. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2013 and had a successful start to his NFL career, earning a Pro Bowl selection and Offensive Rookie of the Year honors. However, his performance declined in subsequent seasons due to weight and injury issues. Lacy last played in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks in December 2017.
In Arizona, drivers found guilty of extreme DUI face a minimum of 30 days in jail with no probation or suspended sentence, and a fine of at least $2,500 for a first offense. Details about Lacy’s upcoming court appearances have not been released. Despite his on-field success, Lacy’s off-field behavior has now raised serious concerns.
