The St. Louis community is grieving the loss of police officer David Lee, who was killed when a suspected drunk driver hit him while he was working a crash on Interstate 70. Lee, an 18-year veteran of the department, died during emergency surgery. St. Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones described Lee as a dedicated public servant and expressed condolences to his family. The suspect, 24-year-old Ramon Chavez-Rodriguez, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and operating a vehicle without a valid license. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 2. The community is coming together to support Lee’s family and honor his memory.
