Israeli soldiers conduct a raid and order the closure of Al Jazeera office in Ramallah

Israeli soldiers raided and closed down the Al Jazeera bureau in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, delivering a 45-day closure order without providing a reason. This comes after a previous ban on operating in Israel, which was also for 45 days and has been extended. Al Jazeera journalists have faced restrictions and attacks from the Israeli government, with media rights groups condemning the targeting of journalists, including the killing of 173 journalists since the start of the war last year. Al Jazeera’s reporters have been killed and injured in Israeli attacks, with the network condemning the suppression of press freedom. The raid highlights Israel’s control over the West Bank and comes after the UN General Assembly voted to end the Israeli occupation. Despite the closure of the bureau, Al Jazeera remains committed to covering the news, with Palestinian and foreign journalists continuing to report on the situation. Israeli policies aim to prevent the truth about Palestinians from being known, but journalists remain dedicated to sharing the reality on the ground.
