Cards Against Humanity, the company known for the popular adult party game, has filed a $15 million lawsuit against SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. The lawsuit, filed in Texas state court, alleges that SpaceX employees trespassed on and damaged land near the U.S.-Mexico border that Cards Against Humanity had purchased in 2017. The land was bought using over $2 million in donations to protect it from former President Trump’s plans to build a wall on the southern border.
SpaceX employees reportedly removed vegetation and placed gravel on the land for their vehicles to park and work. Cards Against Humanity claims that Musk’s actions have caused damage to the property. The company announced its lawsuit on Instagram, stating that Musk had “completely (expletive) that land with gravel, tractors, and space garbage.”
Over 150,000 people donated $15 each in 2017 to help Cards Against Humanity purchase the land as part of a campaign to oppose Trump’s border wall. The company has vowed to share any proceeds from the lawsuit with the donors. They created a website to provide updates on the lawsuit and shared photos of the land before and after the alleged damage by SpaceX.
SpaceX has not yet responded to requests for comment on the lawsuit. Cards Against Humanity is seeking compensation for the damage done to the land and plans to distribute any winnings to the donors who supported their cause.
