Senator Kamala Harris has strongly condemned former President Donald Trump over his plans to carry out mass deportations if elected. Harris emphasized that border security and addressing the status of undocumented individuals brought to the US as children, known as Dreamers, are not mutually exclusive. She expressed concerns about the potential impact of mass deportations, including massive raids and detention camps.
Additionally, Harris announced plans to visit Georgia to highlight the importance of preserving access to abortion, following a report of a pregnant woman who died due to the state’s restrictive abortion ban. The vice-president will also address reproductive freedom and the impact of Trump’s policies on abortion rights.
Despite Harris’ efforts to gain support, the Teamsters union has decided not to endorse a presidential candidate, citing a lack of commitments from both Trump and Harris to address the concerns of working people. The union’s polling data showed strong support for Trump among its members, despite the union’s history of backing Democratic candidates.
Harris is also leading in polls in key battleground states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, but faces a close race in Wisconsin. These developments come as Senator Bernie Sanders plans to file resolutions to block the sale of offensive US weaponry to Israel, citing concerns about the ongoing conflict in Palestine.
