Time-lapse video captures the wildfire’s rapid spread

The Airport Fire, one of three large wildfires burning in southern California, has been spreading rapidly for a third day. Timelapse footage from a weather station caught the fire’s advance through Orange and Riverside counties, moving through the Cleveland National Forest and up Santiago Peak. Cameras at communication arrays captured the flames engulfing the area, but no disruptions have been reported. The fire, which started accidentally by a public works crew, has burned approximately 22,376 acres. Two firefighters have been treated for heat-related injuries, and a third person for breathing difficulties. Thousands of residents in Orange and Riverside counties have evacuated or are preparing to do so as the fire continues to burn. The cause of the fire was determined to be a spark from heavy equipment.
