A male Bengal tiger escaped from the Quinta La Fauna zoo in Reynosa, Mexico last week and remains on the loose near the Texas border. Despite being spotted, efforts to neutralize the tiger have been unsuccessful. Public security officials are warning people not to approach or try to catch the tiger for their safety. Crews have located footprints and feces belonging to the tiger and have attempted to shoot it with a dart, with no success. The tiger, believed to be named Tony and introduced to the zoo in July, has killed hens and piglets in the area. Trap cages, bait, and motion detection cameras have been set up to capture the animal without causing harm. The zoo has been closed since September 4, and it is still unclear how the tiger managed to escape. The Reynosa Department of Public Security and Reynosa police are coordinating efforts to locate the tiger, with the mayor working with officials to track down the animal. Anyone who spots the tiger is advised to call 911. The tiger poses a danger to others, and public security officials are continuing their efforts to safely capture the animal.
