Deshaun Watson, quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, has been accused of sexual assault in a new civil lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed in Harris County, Texas, alleges that Watson forced himself on a woman four years ago after she invited him to her apartment. The woman, identified as Jane Doe, is seeking $1 million in damages.
This is not the first legal issue for Watson, as he recently settled 23 out of 24 lawsuits in which women accused him of sexual misconduct and harassment during massage therapy sessions. As a result, he served an 11-game suspension in 2022, paid a $5 million fine, and underwent counseling before being reinstated by the NFL.
The new lawsuit was filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, who represented the other women in the previous cases against Watson. The Cleveland Browns have not responded to the latest lawsuit, and the NFL has declined to comment. Watson could face further discipline from the league as a result of these allegations.
Since being traded to the Browns in 2022, Watson has faced numerous issues that have limited his playing time. He recently returned to play after a 10-month absence, completing 24 of 45 passes for 169 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Despite his talent on the field, Watson’s off-field behavior continues to be a cause for concern.
