The so-called “Park Slope Prowler,” William Nuesi, was apprehended by police on Thursday afternoon after a string of late-night attacks on women near Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The 23-year-old allegedly targeted at least four women between June and August, grabbing their buttocks and fleeing the scene. The NYPD had warned the public about the suspect last month, sharing images of him in hopes of apprehending him.
Nuesi, who resides near the park, was charged with multiple counts of forcible touching and harassment. The victims, aged between 32 and 41, have been left shaken by the assaults. One of the victims expressed feeling a loss of security and fear of walking alone in the neighborhood after dark. Nuesi remained silent during his arrest and was taken to the police station for questioning.
The community had been on edge since the attacks started, and the arrest of Nuesi brings some relief to residents. The NYPD’s swift action in capturing the suspect demonstrates their commitment to keeping the neighborhood safe. The victims will hopefully be able to find some closure now that the Park Slope Prowler is in custody. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to the authorities to prevent such incidents in the future.
