A 21-year-old man from Texas drowned shortly after being baptized while trying to save a girl from drowning in the same lake where the religious ceremony took place. According to the New York Post, Lincer Lopez had just been baptized in Waxahachie Lake when the girl began to drown. Lopez immediately jumped in to save her but also began to struggle to stay afloat. A fisherman who was out on the lake managed to save the girl and administered first aid, and she recovered. However, Lopez, who was taken to the hospital, unfortunately passed away.
Described as a hero by his family, Lopez did not hesitate to save another person and risked his own life in the process. Both Lopez and the girl were part of a larger group from a church in Garland, Texas, and were swimming in the same lake where the baptisms took place. Lopez’s uncle mentioned that he was so excited about his baptism that he couldn’t sleep the night before.
The boatman who saved the girl from the lake expressed his condolences and admiration for Lopez’s bravery, calling him a hero who had just been baptized and given his life to the Lord. Lopez’s family revealed that he was working in construction and sending money to his parents and relatives living in Mexico.
This tragic incident highlights Lopez’s selfless act of bravery and sacrifice, as well as the impact it has had on his loved ones and the community.
