Law enforcement response to the shooting has been heavily criticized for waiting 77 minutes to confront the gunman, as shown in surveillance footage. Officers were seen in the footage walking back and forth in the hallway, communicating with each other, but not entering the classrooms where the shooting was taking place. The release of additional records related to the shooting is pending while the matter is under appeal.
