A global computer outage caused by faulty code from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike has disrupted computer systems around the world. The error led to machines entering an endless loop of reboots, taking them offline and making it difficult for the company to issue a remote fix. As a result, each affected machine may need to be fixed manually, unless an automated solution can be found. Widespread outages are rare, usually caused by centralized errors or physical damage to equipment, but this unique incident has presented challenges in resolving the issue quickly and efficiently. CrowdStrike, used by over half of Fortune 500 companies, is working to address the problem and restore systems to normal operation.
