Caroline Meister, a 30-year-old experienced hiker, was found dead at the base of a waterfall in the Ventana Wilderness in California by search and rescue teams. Her body was discovered after four days of searching near a “Cut Off” trail where the waterfall drops off. Meister had gone missing after leaving the Tassajara Mountain Zen Center for a day hike, but was not prepared for an overnight stay. The sheriff’s office stated that there were no signs of foul play in her death. The tragic incident comes after a deadly summit season on Mount Everest, prompting the need for hikers to be tagged.
