Two weeks after last being seen, the body of University of Missouri student Riley Strain was found in the Cumberland River in Nashville. Strain, 22, had traveled to Nashville for a fraternity event. Friends reported him missing when they couldn’t reach him, leading to a search by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. A candlelight vigil was held under the bridge where Strain was last seen, attended by over 50 people including family and friends. The family expressed gratitude to the community and police for their support during the search. A timeline of Strain’s disappearance and search efforts was provided, including video footage of his last known movements and the launching of a GoFundMe to support his family. Country singer Luke Bryan addressed Strain’s brief visit to his bar on social media, stating that Strain was served one drink before being escorted out. Ultimately, Strain’s body was found in the river, approximately eight miles from downtown Nashville, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. The family held a press conference asking for assistance from the United Cajun Navy. Despite the tragic outcome, the community came together to honor and remember Strain’s life.
