Dezarary Brown-Bobo, a Detroit woman, is facing felony charges for allegedly smuggling methamphetamines into a Michigan prison in 2019, resulting in an inmate’s fatal overdose. The inmate, William Wilson, was found dead with burst bags of methamphetamine in his mouth and throat. Brown-Bobo has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance causing death, delivery of methamphetamine, and bringing contraband into a prison. Surveillance footage showed her passing an object to Wilson, who later ingested it. Recorded telephone calls alluded to the delivery of the package and discussions about continuing to deliver drugs to different prison facilities. The court appointed a public defender to represent Brown-Bobo, and investigations into the death and delivery of contraband involving others are still ongoing. Brown-Bobo’s bond was set at $50,000, and the court scheduled a probable cause conference for March 19 and a preliminary exam for March 26.
