Injury Causes Alexander Romanov, an Islander, to be Out with Lower-Body Injury

The New York Islander’s defensemen Alexander Romanov had to miss the game against the Calgary Flames due to a lower-body injury, which the team stated he was day-to-day. This comes as a setback after the recent return from injuries of Adam Pelech and Ryan Pulock. Sebastian Aho drew into the lineup as a replacement, but the Islanders still faced gaps in their defense. Semyon Varlamov also hit a milestone with his 600th career appearance and let in three goals on 22 shots in his first start since January 27. Coach Patrick Roy said that despite the loss, Varlamov has been a major asset to the team. Roy also expressed the possibility of keeping Pierre Engvall on the top line after trying him with Bo Horvat and Mathew Barzal during the third period.
